Funding Options and Costs
Financial worries should not stand in the way
Depending on your circumstances and the issues you need to resolve, some or all of your mediation costs may be covered by Legal Aid or supported through the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme.
Legal Aid
If you are on a low income or receive qualifying benefits, Legal Aid may cover your mediation fees. Our team will complete the formal financial assessment with you.
If you are both eligible
- Each person’s separate MIAM is covered.
- Joint mediation sessions are covered.
- Relevant mediation documentation is covered within the funded case, subject to the scope of Legal Aid.
If only one of you is eligible
- The legally aided person’s MIAM and mediation costs are covered.
- The other person can also receive a free MIAM.
- The first joint mediation session is covered for both people.
- For later sessions, the non-eligible person may need to pay their share or use available voucher funding.
Family Mediation
Voucher Scheme
If neither of you qualifies for Legal Aid, eligible disputes involving children may receive government support towards mediation sessions.
The scheme is not means-tested. Your mediator will assess whether the issues are eligible and apply on your behalf if funding is available.
A contribution towards eligible mediation sessions
- Available for eligible disputes concerning children.
- Can also cover combined children and financial issues.
- Not means-tested and not based on your income.
- One voucher contribution is available per case, subject to availability.
Please note: The voucher cannot pay for a MIAM or written documents. It contributes towards mediation sessions and may cover all or part of the relevant session fees.
Mediation costs
These fees apply to private clients, including property and finance-only mediation, sessions after voucher funding has been used, and separately charged written documents.

Funding and voucher availability are assessed individually. We will explain any likely fees before you decide whether to proceed.
